I found a documentary online about the S-130 which is the last surviving S-Boat or E-Boat from the war. The ship is in Southhampton, England and this documentary tells its story. The S-130 participated in attacks during the D-Day invasion and is the same type of ship that sunk the Partridge, although there is no way of telling at this point if it was this exact ship.
The movie is in several parts listed in the center box. (Link)
Learn of Exercise Tiger – the tragedy at Slapton Sands, Devon, England, when 749 US servicemen lost their lives on April 28th, 1944.
Whilst preparing to land on Slapton Sands in training for the D-Day invasion on Utah beach, a flotilla of E-boats sped across the English Channel from France to attack the LST’s carrying the troops.
The tragedy was kept secret for many years, until Ken Small, a local gentleman, was determined to make the tragedy known to the relatives of the lost men.
He spent many years fighting beaurocracy – paid to have a tank brought up from the sea, which, to this day, stands as a memorial to all the US servicemen who died on Exercise Tiger.
Ken Small died in 2004.
There are links on Exercise Tiger and photos of the tank memorial on the internet.
